James observes his parents in new ‘The Last Hours’ snippet
Ready for a Herondale teaser from The Last Hours? Ask and Cassandra Clare shall deliver.
In the latest snippet from The Last Hours, James Herondale takes a look at his “extraordinary” parents.
James could see his mother moving like an anxious pale star among the guests in her lilac dress, greeting each of them warmly, welcoming them to her home. She had not glamoured herself to look her husband’s age for the evening, and she appeared enormously young, though her hair was done up like a gracious older woman’s, not a girl’s. When Will materialized out of the crowd and came to put his arm around Tessa, smiling down at her, the gray at his temples flashed like silver. James looked away; he loved his parents for being extraordinary, but sometimes he also hated them for the same thing.
The first book in The Last Hours — Chain of Thorns — is slated for a 2017 release*

We have to wait until 2017?!?!!!!
THE EXCITEMENT IS REAL
Every time I hear will’s name, my heart breaks. why do we have to what soooooooo long?
I really hope I’ll still be into Shadowhunter Chronicles by the time this comes out…
Me too! But this series is home for me, hopefully it always will be!
But seriously 2017 is waaayyy toooo lonngggg aaaaaa wwwaaaaiiiitttt!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
it might take me til 2017 to be ok with a Will with grey and who is middle aged. But if TLH is published earlier i will not complain at all. Bring on more Shadowhunter stories! I can’t wait!
2017!! That’s to far away I can’t survive without a Herondale in my life till then!!!! Does this mean we won’t have a Cassandra Clare release in 2016 at all?
The Dark Artifices will be here. Have no fear, I’m sure those books can’t go far without a Herondale appearance.
Jace is a Herondale and he is in The Dark Artifices .
Wow, I feel a lot of empathy for James. Must be hard to be constantly compared against your parents, especially if they are as famous as Will and Tessa are.
And once he starts getting older than Tessa! He must feel really strangely as if he doesn’t quite have a mother.
I really hope Cassandra Clare never stops writing… Because if she did I’d feel as if Sebastian were back, like in Earth. And it wouldn’t be pretty. Like. Seriously. And DO WE REALLY HAVE TO WAIT THAT LOOOONG??!! 2017 I’ll be 18 if June 9th passes by.
2017????!!!!!
What please….no no no
I can’t wait that long 😦
