IMG_2302

There have been a lot of discouraging rumors surrounding the Shadowhunters television show, but leave it to Cassandra Clare to calm our anxiety.

Cassie is in Los Angeles attending meetings for the Shadowhunters television show, and from what she has to say, it sounds like good news!

Below are some of the highlights from her tweets, including a promise we’ll soon know when the show will be airing, an official filming start, and squashing some of those horrible rumors that have been floating around.

I think we can all agree that Cassie being involved with this show is a FANTASTIC thing!

Shadowhunters is set to begin filming this summer (rumor has it June) in Vancouver.

  1. Yayyyyyyy!!!! Thank goodness there’s no Natalie

  2. I trust Cassie on this. So let’s cross our fingers to get more updates soon.

With her being there at those meetings, there’s no doubt that this show is gonna do well. Think about it: these are her books so of course she’d have some say in it.

But is there a Maureen instead?

Either way it’s AWESOME that Cassie is involved. And if the other rumors are true, the producers of Shadowhunters are huge fans of the books.

I’m seriously looking forward to this now. And I thought Flash and Gotham both starting last year couldn’t be topped…well apparently it can. Both this and Elfstones of Shannara are shaping up to be incredible.

Praise the Angel, the rumors aren’t true! But more importantly, MALEC CONFIRMED!!!! ❤ Thank you, Cassandra!

    • WarlockBane // March 27, 2015 at 12:14 AM // Reply

Yes!! I seriously squeaked and wiggled in joy when I read about Malec! ❤ LOL!

      • Jasmine DuBois // March 27, 2015 at 10:27 AM //

Nice to see a fellow Malec shipper. They better at least have SOME Malec sexy time on the show The danced around it and I didn’t like that. Or some hot Malec make-out, I wouldn’t mind. I’d be good with that as long as there is some Malec romantic interaction. Team Malec forever! ❤

    • It would be awesome if they put in some of the extras like “Kissed” or more scenes for Malec, like the first date <3. With one hour episodes they can pay more attention to the other characters. In the first book there´s mainly Clace but in the TV show they could show what we missed between the lines. I´ll just hope for it

    • I’m so excited Malec will actually be in it!

    Yay !

  6. YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!, I’m so glad Cassie has shed some light on this otherwise darkening subject. I was really starting to loose all hope on the TV show now the hope is restored. The ageing up of the characters don’t bother at all.

    • Jasmine DuBois // March 27, 2015 at 10:37 AM // Reply

Yeah at least the ageing is a couple of years. That’s a reasonable amount so I don’t really mind either. Also, I know how you feel about all those rumors. After reading some of them, I was almost not gonna bother watching the show. I’ve seen some bad adaptations of books made into TV shows ((*cough* the Delirium pilot. *cough* (Except Pretty Little Liars. That show is cool.)) and they better not screw this one up, or those producers will have to deal with many, many angry Nephilim and the Angel Raziel’s unholy wrath. But hopefully, they’ll do the books justice.

      • When I read they were making them older I almost lost it, like didn’t they learn to stick to the story from last time? But if its only 2 years that’s cool. I don’t like fact though that most of the people we know that have auditioned for Clary look kinda too old still.

  7. *Starts breathing normally again*
Love how the tweet with the most retweets and favourites is the one about Malec! ❤ It certainly proves something 😉 and thank the angel there's no Natalie!!!

    • Jasmine DuBois // March 27, 2015 at 10:46 AM // Reply

Yes. Thank the Angel for Malec and no Natalie, either. I’m more comfortable with Clary and Simon anyway. At least that pairing made sense. I hope we get some Malec sexy time. Or some hot make-out moments I’m good with whatever as long as we get some romantic interaction. The books danced around Malec sexy times and I feel we Malec shippers should get what we deserve. Am I right?

YES!!!! No Natalie!!! I was really worried about that aspect of the television show. I’m still really annoyed that the age of the characters is changing, as, I believe that the ages were a big part of the book series, especially the part about Alec coming of age 🙂

  9. The reason there’s no Natalie is because her name was changed to Maureen 😉

Several people have bought the sides and confirmed that the character of Natalie is now called Maureen, and from the description of that kind of makes sense. She is described as a possesive girlfriend of Simon. So instead of making her a younger groupie they aged her up, made her a member of the band and made her Simon’s crazy (ex?) girlfriend.

    • luiszaragoza24 // March 27, 2015 at 8:18 AM // Reply

R-Me no maureen is not Simón girlfriend she Tells everyone that he Her boyfriend. She. 13 year girl in love she goes to every concert his band makes

      • I have read the books and I know she’s a 13 year old groupie IN THE BOOKS.

According to some sources, though, IN THE SHOW she is older (17/18) and actually Simon’s (ex)girlfriend.

        🙂

Thank God about malec!!!!!!!! The aging up sucks and Maureen as a girlfriend isn’t great, but if they get malec right, I think everything will be OK. 🙂

  11. Thank god i feel much better knowing that shes involved!!

  12. So glad Cassie has cleared up some of those ridiculous rumors floating around. There’s a lesson in there, don’t believe everything u read, unless its from a reliable source which Cassie definitely is 😺

    • Jasmine DuBois // March 27, 2015 at 10:51 AM // Reply

      Agreed.

    • If you read all her tweets, you’ll see that she didn’t really clear up any rumors. For example, someone asked her if Simon will have a girlfriend and her response was, “I don’t know.” All she confirmed was that there was no character called Natalie. She actually confirmed more rumors than she denied, eg, the characters are indeed older.

      • Damon Casale // March 28, 2015 at 5:30 PM //

The one thing she mentioned that I’m really wondering about is about the sides. They’re “just for casting purposes”? I’m not sure how true that is, mainly because they were changed in ways that seemed to fall very well in line with fan concerns.

I do believe her when she says there isn’t a final script, though. I’m also very pleased that #1, the producers are big fans of the books, and #2, they decided to involve her. Now, I’m pretty sure that they don’t NEED to involve her to get advice or actually get the show produced, and that it’s a calculated political move to please the fans. On the other hand, I think they’re smart enough that if she brings up something they haven’t thought of, they’ll take it into consideration.

      • @bayleaves maybe I shouldn’t have said cleared up, so much as acknowleged that their was no final script. Which was good of her to confirm.

  13. That’s great news!! I’m excited to see Shadowhunters and I’m happy Cassie has more information for us.

  14. Its still on ABC family though and that alone scares me to death.

    • I know, I mean. If you compare the PLL books to the TV show, there are quite a lot differences and that says a lot about the network but let’s keep our fingers crossed, and hope for the best. At least, Cassie is there so that’s a good sign.

    • Yeah, I know. But at least it’s not the CW and at least ABC Family won’t shy away from the gay relationship in the show (they seem to really love that in their shows lately), so I can rest easy knowing they won’t try to play around Magnus and Alec’s relationship. But ABC Family isn’t known for its high-fantasy tv shows. Most of their tv shows are domestic, contemporary dramas about teenagers and their families (like The Fosters, Switched at Birth, and The Gilmore Girls). They’ve never done anything like this before to my knowledge. I think I would have been more confident in the fantasy aspect if it was produced by NBC (they do a good job with Grimm) or Fox (Sleepy Hollow); AMC (the Walking Dead is excellent) or especially big budget channels like HBO or Starz. But we’ll see. Either way, I hope it’s good and I can’t wait to see it. (I pray they keep Godfrey Gao as Magnus, tho).

  15. Yeay, im sooo excited!

  16. Reblogged this on ASIMI and commented:
    OMG OMG OMG IT’S HAP-PEN-IIIING~~

  17. @damoncassle it seems like Constantin and ABC Family are invovinf her which as we all know can only be to there benefit. So kudos to them!☺

  18. Anyone saw this picture…… are the rumors true??
