While fans of Cassandra Clare’s Shadowhunter Chronicles are already well-versed in all of the terminology associated with her world, there are new fans joining the fandom every day, so Freeform thought they’d help these new fans brush up on some of the most important words to know in the Shadow World.

Strap in for “A Mundane’s Guide to Shadowhunters, Volume 1,” where the cast and Cassie discuss the terms “Shadowhunter,” “Rune,” “Stele,” and “Warlock.”

Shadowhunters premieres Jan. 12 at 9/8c on Freeform.

  1. Portals always look ridiculous. Disintegrate into a purple wall of glitter…… fittingly Magnus style I suppose.

  2. I think the tv show we be a be disappointing they sold have suck with the movies with the original cast. If ppl had a big problem with her her they such a thing as dye or a wig. I don’t like what I seen with the tv show promotion so far I like the movie better.
