  1. I expected quite a drop this week because many fans were angry and couldn’t tolerate any more of the show, and there’s also the factor that the second episode could be streamed early, so not all might’ve tuned in. The real test is next week and the rest of the season, I think.

  2. I personally love the show but i am concerned that the show dropped in the ratings

  3. Considering about 859K watched the second episode early on the app as well as people who couldn’t take the changes, I expected this drop. I think it’s best to wait and see how episode 3 performs. That will be the real test. But on the up side, the sneak peaks look amazing! he acting is improving, and I can’t wait for the rest of the series.

  4. The acting isn’t the best, clary is by far the worst and jack just doesn’t have that edge and doesn’t have that instant insane green eyed attraction that he is supposed to have for clary? I’m holding on to the hope that it will get better but it’s not great. I just wish a premier film company would take it on and do it properly. The first 20 or so minutes of the film that was released was spot on but then lost the plot due to a bad casting of valentine and his men. It’s such a shame because it has the potential to be amazing if only it could be done right!!!

  5. I’m guessing it’s because the second episode could be streamed early. I am liking the show. But I was expecting it to be different from the books hopen we get a few more seasons.

  6. Able to be streamed early or not, I didn’t have enough interest to watch the second episode until it aired on TV. It needs to improve. The show is terribly done so far.

  7. Well, the show “Lost” started out fantastic and then turned awful. There are other shows that have started out not so good and have gotten tremendously better as they went along. I am hoping the same for this show. If fans give up now. I would think this is it for any more film adaptations for TMI. I thought the first episode was ok. The second episode was horrible. I hope that the actors finally get some chemistry and things get explained. I was going to give up but i have decided to watch all 13 episodes and then decide or not to watch the next season.

    • Thanks for saying that! I am so tired of people saying the second episode was better. It was substantially worse. It made no sense and was full of useless garbage. Clary appeared to be a selfish lunatic who forgot her mother was missing and focused on Dot, who we haven’t spent enough time with to give a crap about and don’t have any lingering attachment to from the books. Magnus ran away, no reason why, no apparent point except to get him off the screen, probably because he can act.

I love Clary in the books — I love Clary AND Jace, and here they are awful. Jace lacks any believable edge of vulnerability or humor to take the edge off his arrogance and stupid lines like “But I don’t have any human feelings.” ?? Clary’s lack of interest in her mother’s fate and her dependence on other people, especially men, wrecks a beloved strong female character.

Alec is forgettable, as his only character note is RULES RULES RULES. He barely appears, anyway. People are obsessed with Matthew Daddario so I don’t think they can be objective about how bad this character is or how little he shows up. Izzy’s one-note and terrible, and Valentine reminds me of a Scooby Doo villain. What’s his plan? What’s his point? What is ANYTHING? Why is he in Chernobyl? But really the worst thing is the “plot.” There isn’t one. There’s no stakes, no sense of any suspense or that anything is at risk, nothing makes sense so nothing matters. Just a bunch of pretty non-actors wandering around, bumping into walls.

It’s sad that the show is crashing in ratings but hardly surprising. They should have stuck to the books. You can do a bad faithful adaptation and succeed. You can do a good unfaithful one. But you can’t do a bad unfaithful one and expect any success.

      • I don’t know. There’s a reason a lot of people who haven’t read the books like the show (from twitter, instagram, tumblr, Facebook, etc.). It might not be great, but it is interesting (I am a huge book fan though). It reminds me a lot of Teen Wolf’s first season (acting and CGI wise). It makes sense too, although it’s somewhat different from the books. Different doesn’t equal bad though. Clary is focused on finding her mother – she says it multiple times. Finding Dot will bring her closer to finding her mother (She’s hoping.). As for Magnus running, there is literally a conversation in City of Lost souls between Magnus and someone else where he says the only reason he was there was for Alec, or else he would be in hiding. Magnus doesn’t know Alec yet, so it makes sense he would run and try to protect his people. Alec is basically exactly like Alec in the books…. so if you have a problem with him here, your problem is with him in the books as well….As for Valentine, it’s only been two episodes. We aren’t going to know everything after only two episodes in. It does create some mystery as to why everyone wants the cup. I don’t know, I disagree on a lot of the things you said, but that’s just me. I think it’s interesting to see other points of view.

  8. I loved the first episod ! The second one though was alright. It seemed like that one episode where the actors are trying new things out and trying to really become one with their character. Each character can use a bit of an improvement but so far so good.

  9. A lot of people watch on the app or on demand. I hope the show has a great following do there is no concern of cancellation. I am really excited to see it all the way through!!!! And hopefully for several seasons!

    • With these ratings, there is a definite risk of cancellation. It had a great first week, which was a tribute to how many fans turned out to watch. The bad second week isn’t surprising considering how many were revolted and walked away.

I love the show. I like the changes honestly. I couldn’t get into the first couple of books that much. The later ones were much better in my opinion. I expected the ratings to drop a lot with how many people ended up streaming the episode early since it was available. I watched the first two episodes back to back. I feel like a lot of people watched on the freeform website or app.
