‘Shadowhunters’: Ed Decter Exits as Showrunner
There’s been a shake-up at the top of the Shadowhunters brass.
According to Deadline, Ed Decter has exited as showrunner of Freeform’s Shadowhunters. There’s no replacement yet, but production is expected to continue on schedule.
Here’s what Deadline had to say:
I hear Decter departed a few days ago and was not present at today’s first table read for Shadowhunters‘ second season. I hear the departure was over creative differences, and the new showrunner(s) are expected to tweak the series’ creative direction for Season 2. In the meanwhile, production is expected to continue as scheduled, with no impact from Decter’s exit.
The series, which was renewed for a second season in March, is due to begin filming soon with a 2017 premiere for season two.
What are your thoughts on Decter’s exit? Who would you like to see take over as showrunner? Sound off in the comments!
Well I can´t tell if this is good news. On one hand the new showrunner might feel like following the books more than Decter did, wich would be nice in so many levels. On the other hand the might be quite a few inconsistencies between season one and two. After all Decter did change a lot of the original source material and he is the only one who knows what he was trying to do there.
YES YES YES
Maybe now they’ll remember this is an adaptation of a hero’s journey rather than a shitty soap opera where everyone looks like they wandered out of an 80’s BDSM bar.
That is oddly specific of you.
I sense that I will be watching Shadowhunters Season 2! I would name who I would like to see replace Ed, but I don’t really keep up with all this TV stuff enough to know who would be a good candidate.
Not really sure if this is a good thing or not in all honesty. Will we be following the books more now or are we going to be so far out in outer space that Magnus is somehow mayor of New York? Just saying…..
