Happy Valentine’s/Love Day to our readers!
We know that today is about romantic love but we decided to celebrate all kinds of love instead – the love between parabatai like Will and Jem or Alec and Jace, the love between best friends like Clary and Simon, family love and romantic love. ❤
Cassie recently took to her Instagram to share her love for her readers.
There are so many people out there who love her books and to whom they mean so much and it’s so lovely to read Cassie’s words and to know that she keeps the notes/letters she gets.
To celebrate with us today, Cassie has kindly shared an exclusive Lord of Shadows snippet. It is so, so cute and made us go aww!
“Because when this universe was born, when it blasted into existence in fire and glory, everything that would ever exist was created. Our souls are made of that fire and glory, of the atoms of it, the fragments of stars. Everyone’s are, but I believe ours, yours and mine, are made from the dust of the same star.”
We have no idea who’s talking so let the guessing begin!
Since love is such an important element in The Shadowhunter Chronicles, we also want to draw attention to the love runes that Cassie’s friend Val came up with four years ago:
Casandra Jean also took to tumblr to share some Valentine’s Day art:
Last but not least, Cassie shared her thoughts on love in her books ❤
One of the joys of writing a big sprawling tapestry of a series like the Shadowhunter books is being able to explore a million kinds of love: the love of friends like Will and Jem or Emma and Cristina, romantic love like Magnus and Alec or Will and Tessa, the love of brothers and sisters like Ty and Livvy, Mark and Julian, or of parents and children like Jocelyn and Clary. And I think one of the biggest kinds of love all the characters come to consider over the course of their stories is what it means to feel empathic love — to feel love for other human beings because they are human like you, to want to help and protect them, to want to save the world — because for Shadowhunters, that’s what it always comes down to in the end. Empathic love for suffering fellow humans is something we’re all thinking about, considering and feeling right now, and I think that’s what Valentine’s Day 2017 is about for so many of us.
Thank you for celebrating with us today, Cassie.
Have a lovely day y’all!
