James Marsters from ‘Buffy’ to narrate ‘Lord of Shadows’ audiobook
By the Angel! Guys, we do have a narrator for the Lord of Shadows audiobook and I’d say we have hit the jackpot. Any Buffy the Vampire Slayer and/or Smallville fans among us? Because this news will blow you away:
James Marsters aka Spike on Buffy is going to narrate the audiobook!
Here’s what Entertainment Weekly wrote:
It’s a meeting of supernatural royalty: James Marsters, best known for his role as Spike on Buffy the Vampire Slayer, has been cast to narrate Cassandra Clare’s next audiobook, EW can announce exclusively.Marsters will perform Lord of Shadows, a Shadowhunters novel.
“One of my biggest inspirations for creating the Shadowhunters was always classic urban fantasy like Buffy,” Clare tells EW, “and it’s an honor and a bit of a trip to have my favorite character, Spike, read Lord of Shadows.”
We couldn’t help but fangirl directly to Cassie and she exclusively told us:
“One of the things I always loved about James’ Spike was his voice — how much fun he had playing up different accents and ways of speaking. I can’t wait to hear that at play in Lord of Shadows where he’ll get to move between accents in LA and accents in London!”
James’s different accents was the first thing we thought of when we read the news and we’re incredibly excited and pleased for Cassie! We’ve always loved Buffy and to have one of its stars narrate the Lord of Shadows audiobook is so amazing 😀 Welcome to the Shadowhunter family, James!
In case you forgot what the book is going to be about:
Emma Carstairs has finally avenged her parents. She thought she’d be at peace. But she is anything but calm. Torn between her desire for her parabatai Julian and her desire to protect him from the brutal consequences of parabatai relationships, she has begun dating his brother, Mark. But Mark has spent the past five years trapped in Faerie; can he ever truly be a Shadowhunter again?
And the faerie courts are not silent. The Unseelie King is tired of the Cold Peace, and will no longer concede to the Shadowhunters’ demands. Caught between the demands of faerie and the laws of the Clave, Emma, Julian, and Mark must find a way to come together to defend everything they hold dear—before it’s too late.
