While there hasn’t been an official announcement from Freeform, there is a report surfacing that the network has quietly renewed Shadowhunters for a third season!

SpoilerTV has reported the news that says Freeform has already greenlit a season 3 and have tentative production dates lined up. Production would begin August 14, 2017 and wrap May 18, 2018.

With network upfronts coming April 19, that would likely be when Freeform would make the formal announcement.

Shadowhunters is currently in the middle of its second season. The series, which aired its midseason finale last month, will return on June 5 for the conclusion of its sophomore season.

  3. Yes the news I’ve been waiting for !!!! Thank you freeform thank you to the writers producers and the cast of shadowhunters for this amazing show!!!!

  4. I’m pleased to hear “Shadowhunters” has been picked up for Season 3, because I love the books and I like the actors they chose to star in the TV series. I think they are doing an admirable job embodying the roles…the characters I came to love in the books and I want to see them continue to bring those characters to life as best they can given the less than stellar scripts they have to work with. Quite frankly if I had not already read the books I would not be watching the series anymore. I am very disappointed that they keep coming up with plot lines that go no where instead of telling the exciting tale that has already been written in the source material. I will keep watching though, because I keep hoping the writing will improve and because I am loyal to Cassie Clare and her vision.

For the record, I really liked “City of Bones” the movie and I believe the only reason why it did not do very well in the Box Office tallies and ratings is because they tried to tell the whole story in the less than 2 hours they were given for the movie and I think as much as I loved seeing how closely they stuck to the original story from the book it was likely too complicated for those who had not previously read the book(s). Now they are trying to do something different by simplifying and even adding cute magical abilities they can do in order to not go down the unsuccessful path of the movie version I guess, but I really feel they went too far and with every episode I watch I hope they will vere back to the beautiful story Cassie Clare already wrote for all of us to enjoy.
