‘Shadowhunters’: 5 Teases From ‘You Are Not Your Own’
Expect to feel all the Sizzy, Malec, Clace, Climon, Sebastian and Herondale feels in Monday's all-new episode of 'Shadowhunters'

Following last week’s summer premiere of Shadowhunters, fans were introduced to several storylines that’ll be explored during this final stretch of season 2, including Sebastian’s arrival, Simon as a Daylighter, the love triangle between Clary, Jace, and Simon, and a certain cliffhanger that left fans scratching their heads.
In last week’s summer premiere, “Mea Maxima Culpa,” we were introduced to the greater demon Azazel, who not only proved to be a nuisance in trailing him but also what he left in his wake. In the final moments of the episode, we saw that Azazel had pulled a Freaky Friday with Magnus (Harry Shum Jr.) and Valentine (Alan Van Sprang) that’s for sure going to have some effects on our characters.
In Monday’s all-new episode, “You Are Not Your Own,” we’re going to delve right into this body switcheroo that Azazel managed between Magnus and Valentine. And trust us, it’s going to be not only confusing as hell for our characters, but it’s going to pack quite an emotional punch, especially as far as Malec is concerned.
This was such a solid episode because there is a focus on these significant relationships that Cassandra Clare brought to life in her books. While the episode might be far from perfect, the focus on the relationships that make us cry, scream, and feel countless emotions are on full display in this episode. Here’s to hoping there’s more of that moving forward.
Without further ado, here are five things you can expect in Monday’s all-new episode, “You Are Not Your Own”:
1. Sebastian Interacting With Our Core Group
In last week’s summer premiere, fans were introduced to Sebastian Verlac, who for fans of the book needs no introduction. While we didn’t get a lot of Will Tudor as Sebastian in the episode, expect that to change drastically in “You Are Not Your Own.” While the entirety of Sebastian’s interactions last week came with Isabelle, expect Sebastian to interact with our core group, Clary, Jace, Alec, and Isabelle. But I will say that you can expect some really good scenes with Clary and Sebastian, which are intriguing and emotional. Will Tudor absolutely slayed in this episode. There’s a great rapport with Will and Kat McNamara.
2. Simon & Isabelle Have Some Good, Meaningful Moments
Sizzy fans, rejoice! As you could see from the promotional photos released by Freeform, there are indeed some Sizzy interactions. In fact, they have a storyline together where Simon reaches out for Isabelle’s help, and they embark on a mission together. Some of my favorite scenes in this episode! But I will tell you this. These scenes with Simon and Isabelle are really well done. They weren’t thrown together just to appease the Sizzy fans. There was some really good emotional moments that will have implications for Simon and Isabelle moving forward. Honestly, this felt like the beginning of a Sizzy slowburn. Where the intent is there. Alberto Rosende and Emeraude Toubia have a beautiful chemistry I can’t wait to see more of. Get ready, guys!

3. Good Emotional Malec Scenes
Given the focus of “You Are Not Your Own,” it goes without saying that this is going to be a good emotional episode for Malec. With Magnus being body-swapped with the villainous Valentine, there is obviously a lot of focus on Magnus and Alec, specifically in Magnus (as Valentine) attempting to convince Alec that he’s not Valentine, but Magnus. This brings forth some really good emotional scenes that’ll leave Malec fans emotional and satisfied when all is said and done. Strap in, it’s going to be an emotional ride.
4. Clace & Climon Moments
Seriously one of the things that made this episode good was that there was a focus on the key relationships that fans have developed an attachment to, including Malec and Sizzy. But lest us forget the love triangle currently brewing in Clary & Jace and Clary & Simon, which is something that was a focal point in Cassie’s books. Now, obviously things have changed now that Clary and Jace know they’re not brother and sister, but this episode managed to show these two relationships as separate while also reminding us that there is a love triangle that needs to be solved. There were some good moments for Clace and Climon as individuals, including a revelation regarding Clary and Jace’s relationship, that is setting this up to be an intriguing storyline.

5. Herondale Feels
Given Shadowhunters extensive world, which includes The Infernal Devices, it’s always smart to expect some intense feels. What I will say though regarding “You Are Not Your Own,” is expect some serious Herondale feels. As we saw in the sneak peek where Jace and Clary were sparring, there was some Herondale discussion there. But I’m here to tell you that there’s more than where that came from. Now, I can’t get into specifics about it. But trust me, your Herondale heart is going to be feeling all the feels.
Shadowhunters airs Mondays at 8/7c on Freeform.
