As Shadowhunters nears the close of its second season, we’re gearing up for a seriously intense and emotional season finale that’s sure to shake things up for the show and these characters moving forward.
We spoke with Shadowhunters star Katherine McNamara at San Diego Comic-Con earlier this month, where she previewed what we can expect from the fallout of Clary learning that her brother is in fact alive.
“It affects everything,” McNamara told us. “Clary thought she lost her brother; she thought he was dead. She thought she really didn’t have any family left because her mother’s gone, and she doesn’t really consider Valentine family. Although she has the family of the Shadowhunters and the Downworlders and this wonderful family she’s grown to have, a chance at having part of her biological family in her life again is huge. She would do anything and everything to give Jonathan a second chance.”
While there are other important issues going on within the Shadow World, like the missing Mortal Instruments and the impending doom we know is coming, we can’t help but be curious about what’s in store for Clary and Jace. While McNamara insisted that the connection is still there, this isn’t necessarily the best time for Clace to start up a relationship, in Clary’s eyes.
“Clary is so gun-shy about relationships because of what happened with Simon,” she said. “He’s the last person in the world that she would ever have wanted to hurt and she did. Clary and Jace they have this connection – and they have since day one – but Clary’s not ready to deal with that right now. There’s so much else…Clary throws herself into work. How successful she is with that while avoiding relationship issues, that’s another story because there’s always relationship issues in the Shadow World.”
