APPENDED NOTE 2/10 I see distress about a reply I posted and then deleted, actually without having finished writing it. In it I referred to a controversy which I know many found upsetting and triggering, and I did myself as it concerned a character I created and love. http://www.clevver.com/shadowhunters-magnus-bane-alec-lightwood-first-time-sex-no-consent-backlash/ http://www.justjaredjr.com/2017/02/14/shadowhunters-showrunner-responds-to-controversial-malec-consent-scene/ While I regret any genuine upset caused I reject the damaging, silencing idea that using the word "rape" to describe a disturbing, non consensual scene that has been widely called out by the media as triggering is somehow worse than showing the scene itself. I am a rape survivor. For all those that who assumed I have no experience of sexual assault or rape (among them those who suggested I wasn't attractive enough to be raped and should hope to one day be lucky enough to be raped, all while claiming the moral high ground) : you will be pleased to know some years ago I was pushed down the stairs by my ex boyfriend and raped while I lay groggy and unable to move. That is something that alters your whole life. While we all feel differently about this topic, I see immense value in discussions about rape culture, and no value whatsoever in the idea that the word rape should not be used to describe what is clearly rape. I would ask for us all to be mindful that real women and real victims are more important than fictional men and you would do well to consider the difference between fighting for a principle and fighting about a tv show. I'm turning off comments at this point for the sake of my own wellbeing, as many of the remarks being made to me on this very personal topic are triggering. Thank you to those who are understanding. For those upset they have been blocked, you are not owed the right to be ignorant and abusive in other people's internet space. If you get more fired up screaming at rape survivors than you do about irresponsible portrayals of consent in media, consider your priorities.

Preorder the ebook here.

If you don’t own a Kindle, you can still use a Free Kindle Reading App or – if you are a very patient fan – you can wait until the print edition of Ghosts of the Shadow Market is going to be published in 2019 (after The Red Scrolls of Magic is released on March 5, 2019)!

From Amazon.com:

The Lightwoods, the Shadowhunters who run the New York Institute, are expecting a new addition to their family: the orphaned son of their father’s friend, Jace Wayland. Alec and Isabelle aren’t too sure they want a new brother, and their parents are not assuaging their fears, too occupied with the dark news that Raphael Santiago, second-in-command of the New York vampire clan, has brought from the Shadow Market.

We can’t wait to see the final cover and read the ebook which, according to Amazon, is going to be 21 pages long.

Son of the Dawn is going to be published on April 10!

  1. Will there be a preorder link for Europe too?
I live in Germany and I can’t find the book anywhere on Amazon.de or the kindle store for preorder.
