Read the first chapter of ‘The Golden Tower’
Two of Cassandra Clare’s book series are coming to an end this year: The Dark Artifices and Magisterium, which Cassie co-wrote with author and friend Holly Black. Fans of The Dark Artifices were already treated to a chapter from Queen of Air and Darkness and now it is time for Magisterium fans to rejoice – and maybe start rereading the other four books – because Scholastic has released the first chapter of The Golden Tower!
FOR THE FIRST time in Call’s life, the house he had grown up in looked small.Alastair brought the car to a stop and they piled out alongwith Havoc, who ran along the edge of the grass, barking. Alastair glanced at Call once before locking the car — there was no suitcase to carry out, no duffel bags or luggage to worry about. Call had come home from Master Joseph’s with nothing.
You can read the rest of the chapter here (click start reading).
I cannot wait to find out what Call’s final year at school is going to bring for him, Tamara and their friends! 😀
And in case you need a reminder about the book’s synopsis:
The final, thrilling installment in this extraordinary series from bestselling authors Holly Black and Cassandra Clare.
A generation ago, powerful mage Constantine Madden came close to achieving what no magician had ever achieved: the ability to bring back the dead. He didn’t succeed . . . but he did find a way to keep himself alive, inside a young child named Callum Hunt.
Facing up to what he is, Callum has battled chaos and evil across four years of magical training at the Magisterium, eventually defeating the armies of chaos in an epic battle.
It came at a cost.
Now, triumphant and heartbroken, Callum Hunt has just about had enough, and is ready to complete his training. But the evil Callum faced has not given up just yet…
The Golden Tower is published on September 11 and there is going to be a launch event with Cassie, Holly, David Levithan and Scott Westerfeld at Odyssey Books in South Hadley, MA at 7pm. You can RSVP here.
When I clicked on your link to read the rest of the first chapter it takes me to the Scholastic children’s books website, but I couldn’t find the 1st chapter of The Golden Tower (or even the book itself) by doing a search. You need to correct your link.
Thanks for letting me know. It’s a bit weird because when I opened the link I was sent straight to the PDF with the 1st chapter. I fixed it and you now need to click one more link.
I tried again. I got the same Scholastic home page. I tried typing The Golden Tower in again and nothing (no search found). I also clicked on New Releases and it doesn’t show The Golden Tower there either. If there is a link to the PDF of the first chapter I need to know where it is on the home page. I am copying link from you reply here:

See if it works for you.
The link you sent is not the one I added as a hyperlink so I don’t know why you always end up there. This is the link I used: https://www.scholastic.com/kids/book/the-golden-tower-by-cassandra-clare/
If this doesn’t work, have a look at scholastic.com and search for The Golden Tower there.
