October Newsletter Wrap-Up: art, snippets, virtual signing info and more!
Get a signed copy of 'Chain of Gold'
Happy Halloween! 🎃👻 Who’s dressing up as a Shadowhunter or Downworlder?
Yesterday Cassandra Clare sent her monthly newsletter to her subscribers so today we have some exciting things to share with you: Chain of Gold art, information about a virtual signing, two snippets and more!
Cassie is busy working on three different books at the moment: Chain of Iron, The Lost Book of the White, and her first adult novel Sword Catcher! Her schedule is pretty packed, she has “been both trying to take it easy and also working like a demon, so it’s an ongoing balancing act”, but she is taking a short break on November 19 to moderate an event for her good friend and Magisterium co-author Holly Black and her new book The Queen of Nothing. Cassie will be signing her books as well so if you have time, stop by, get your books signed and have a fun time because Cassie and Holly are hilarious together!
Cassie has worked with many authors and artists in the past, one of them being Cassandra Jean, and their newest collaboration is now available!
The next Shadowhunter Chronicles book that will be published is of course Chain of Gold – pre-order your copy now to get the Collector’s First Edition – and if you do want a signed copy and some cool goodies, do not skip the next paragraph! Cassie is teaming up with Good Choice Reading once again and here are all the details you need to know:

I promised you art so here it is:
Doesn’t Thomas look incredible handsome? I love the tattoo on his forearm!
A much younger Thomas is starring in November’s Chain of Gold flash fiction so here’s a short snippet:
James also seemed mostly intrigued by the noise and lights, giggling and yelping at the merry scene around them. A London boy from birth, thought Gideon, and then thought, well, but I was a London boy from birth, and this is too much commotion for my liking. For his own part, Thomas was quiet, watching with wide eyes, clutching onto his father’s shoulders. Gideon wasn’t sure how weakened Thomas still was from the last fever and how much he was overwhelmed by the crowds. In some ways, when he wasn’t sick, Thomas could be guilt-inducingly easy to care of; he rarely made a fuss, just looked out into the world with those large hazel eyes, as if aware of his own helplessness and hoping not to be noticed.
We also have accompanying art for this brief scene and it is super adorable:
The coloured version will be in the flash fiction so if you haven’t signed up to Cassie’s newsletter yet, now is definitely the time to do so!

I announced two snippets so here’s the other one. It’s really special because it’s from The Lost Book of the White which won’t be released until 1 September 2020! It features Simon – our recent birthday boy – and other characters from our beloved TMI gang:
Alec took note. “I don’t much like being looked at like the enemy here,” he said. “We’re all on the same side, Shadowhunters and Downworlders.”
Jace quirked an eyebrow. “I believe the Clave’s official position is that we are on opposite sides.”
“It’s ridiculous,” said Clary. “How many faeries were actually on Sebastian’s side in the war? The Queen, her court—it must be a tiny percentage of them. But we’ve punished them all.”
“They’ve punished them all,” said Simon. “We haven’t done anything. We tried to prevent the Cold Peace.”
“As long as we can explain that to each of them individually, I’m sure we’ll be fine,” said Jace.
“Maybe we could get t-shirts made,” Simon agreed. “’We Tried to Prevent the Cold Peace.’”
This really would be a great t-shirt! 😀
Cassie also shared a sneak peek at the book’s cover on her Instagram:
I’m a fan of the colour scheme and can’t wait to see the full cover!
That’s all for today. I’ll share the November Chain of Gold flash fiction on Saturday so see you then!
Have a very happy Halloween and don’t eat too much candy. 😉
