Read: An exclusive ‘Chain of Iron’ snippet

Good morning, afternoon or evening! I don’t think I have to mention how many more days we have to wait before Chain of Iron is released because I am sure you all know therefore I will get straight to the point. Cassandra Clare sent us an exclusive Chain of Iron snippet so I am super excited to share it with you today. Thanks, Cassie! ❤

Jewel-toned couches were scattered about the room, and on them were crowded all manner of vampires and faeries, even a werewolf or two, as well as creatures Lucie could not identify. They spoke to each other in low voices as satyrs carrying silver trays of iced drinks passed between them.

“Hardly the bacchanal I expected,” Grace said coolly. “I can’t imagine why people are so desperate to be invited.”

Lucie spotted Malcolm Fade first, sprawled on a settee alone, his arm behind his head, his purple gaze fixed on the ceiling. He sat up as they approached, his expression frankly skeptical.

“Is this how it’s to be, then? Shadowhunters showing up here every night?” Malcolm sighed. He was wearing a formal white frock coat, the same color as his hair. “My patience begins to fray.”

“I’m glad it’s only begun,” Lucie said, “because we need to speak with you. In private. I’m Lucie Herondale, and this is Grace Blackthorn—”

“I know who you are.” With a sigh, Malcolm rolled off the settee. “You get five minutes of my time, less if you bore me. Come to my office.”

Malcolm and Grace do not sound like a good combination! My guess is that he is tolerating her because she is not a Blackthorn by birth.

In addition to this snippet, there were some more on Cassie’s social media and also Simon Teen’s Twitter, although these are much shorter.

Cordelia hesitated. James’s hands were firm and gentle on hers; she knew he would always be this way, gentle and determined, kind and thoughtful. Her heart beat hard and treacherous inside her chest. He had not been gentle in the Whispering Room. Not gentle with his hands on her body and his lips on hers. That had been the James she wanted, her one glimpse at the James she could not have. (x)

*sighs* At first I am always happy when there is a Cordelia and James snippet, but then my shipper heart is sad because these snippets usually come with a twist.

“Anna Lightwood is throwing a party at her flat tomorrow night.”

I am sure this is going to be wild!

“But love is not always a lightning bolt, is it? Sometimes it is a creeping vine. It grows slowly until suddenly it is all that there is in the world.”

“A message. From Annabel Blackthorn.”

Yeah, sure. Annabel and Malcolm in the other snippet. I am not worried at all.

“I know what it is to be in pain, and not be able to seek comfort from one who love the most, nor to be able to share that pain with anyone you know.”
