Cassandra Clare shares ‘The Whispering Room’ from James’s POV + other news
Guys! The time has come for us to finally feast our eyes on the Whispering Room scene from James’s POV! This scene from chapter 15 in Chain of Gold is beloved by many, many readers/shippers and now we are finding out what James was thinking (or maybe he wasn’t thinking) during this scene.
Where to read it? Cassandra Clare just sent a new issue of her newsletter in which she shared a download link to the pdf. There’s also art by Cassandra Jean and I honestly need a minute because everything is AH-MAZING! ❤ I’m only sharing the beginning of the scene and the artwork, the rest is available online.
Cortana wove with her words, underlining each one with steel. She turned as her sword turned, and her body curved and moved like water or fire, like a river under an infinity of stars. It was beautiful—she was beautiful, but it was not a distant beauty. It was a beauty that lived and breathed and reached out with its hands to crush James’s chest and make him breathless.
James had felt a strange emotion when Daisy first took the stage at the Hell Ruelle. It was a mix of several feelings: worry on her behalf, annoyance at Kellington, curiosity, and admiration for her bravery and poise. It was unfair of these Bohemians to force her to caper for them, and, he thought, a bit insulting to Shadowhunters in general. He supposed that Matthew had given them a rather unusual view of what the Nephilim were like in such circumstances.
And then she had begun to dance. And suddenly she was not Daisy, his old friend.Click here to read the rest of the scene.
This POV is seriously everything! Thank you so much for writing this, Cassie! ❤

There is more news, though! Back when Queen of Air and Darkness was published, Cassie’s US publisher Simon & Schuster offered a really cool pre-order gift, a little book called Classics reimagined in the world of Shadowhunters, and there were plans to sell it on topatoco.com. Well, it never was published until now! Look at our tweet and then Cassie’s official announcement below:
Another long-awaited announcement is that the Fairy Tale Book — the collection of gorgeous art of fairytales re-imagined with characters from the Shadowhunters universe — is at last bound up in a fabulous hardcover edition and ready for PRE-ORDER! We’ve partnered with Hebel Designs to print it in a very, very limited edition, shipping out in August — when they’re gone, they’re gone, so grab ‘em while they’re still around.
Pre-order your copy here!
I am super excited for this book and actually already pre-ordered it. And now, if you’ll excuse me, I need to reread the Whispering Room scene. 😉

Have a great day and look out for another announcement – this time on our Twitter (@TMI_Source) – on Monday.
Adorable!
Das love all the the Shadowhunters Books. I love the whole world which Cassie created. I can’t wait till The Wicked Powers and the Black Volume of TheDeath will be published.
My favorite couple and characters are Alec and Magnus. While I can’t wait for the last books of this series, I‘m also so afraid of what will happen, especially what will happen to Malec and their kids. My heart breaks when I think that Alec and Rafael will die one day far far in the future and leave Magnus and Max alone.
Finally the classics reimagined in the world of shadowhunters !
Already pre-ordered mine 🙂
