E! Online has predicted that THE MORTAL INSTRUMENTS is one of the Next Crazes to hit Hollywood.
When asked about what YA franchises have the best chances of becoming the next Twilight–a.k.a. the next Big Thing–here’s what E! Online had to say about THE MORTAL INSTRUMENTS:
Mortal Instruments series: Like the House of Night series, this one’s been around since 2007. But it’s a machine that keeps on running, with a fourth installment that came out earlier this year and a fifth due in 2014. We’re talking an urban fantasy with a kitchen sink full of fantasy characters, including demons, werewolves and, of course, vampires. A film is being made with Lily Collins in the lead role.
Also making the list was The Caster Chronicles, House of Night, Delirium and Blood Red Road.
The Caster Chronicles is the only other series, like THE MORTAL INSTRUMENTS, that has a movie on the way. Beautiful Creatures is set for a February 13, 2013 release and THE MORTAL INSTRUMENTS: CITY OF BONES is set for an August 23, 2013 release.

wow E are total twats! COLS was 5th book and 6th book out 2014 get your facts right E and there is no doubt whatsoever that TMI will be huge and I thank my nephews girlfriend for introducing me to these books.. I am now obsessed

I get annoyed when someone calls tmi the next-… All books are different. People are labelling it as the next Twilight and HG when The first twilight movie wasn’t even released and the HG books weren’t even released when COB came out. It’s people like E! Online that are going to start Team Jace and Team Will as Cassandra said“Not in this fandom”
I can’t wait and it will be huge and e get your facts straight! ok I’m Team Tmi and yes I’m Team Jace and team will but in a sense I’m on the team for all the characters , acts and couples (excpet sebastian and valentine and jocelyn and mortmain lol) but yeah i may more on a of a team mate than some teams but it may be time to think of orginal concepts
