‘THE MORTAL INSTRUMENTS: CITY OF BONES’ MOVIE PRODUCTION

Movie news surrounding The Mortal Instruments should be plentiful this year. Cassandra Clare said that Screen Gems is aiming for a spring 2012 filming start on The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones. With only the two main leads cast (Lily Collins as Clary and Jamie Campbell Bower as Jace) there is sure to be a slew of casting news to start off the new year, as well as an official release date for the movie.
BUILD-UP TO ‘CITY OF LOST SOULS’

With City of Lost Souls, the fifth installment of The Mortal Instruments, just five months away at the start of 2012, the anticipation and excitement in regards to the release is sure to skyrocket. Cassandra Clare will no doubt continue to share teasers and there is plenty to look forward before its May release. The cover reveal for City of Lost Souls is looking like it could be January, according to the placeholder widget, and the official summary has still yet to be released.

The much-anticipated fifth installment of The Mortal Instruments will hit bookshelves on May 8. City of Lost Souls picks up where City of Fallen Angels left off and the teasers that we’ve received indicate that this could be the best Mortal Instruments book yet!
YA SISTERHOOD’S ‘SUMMER CRUSH’ TOURNAMENT

Jace Wayland currently holds the title of ‘Summer Crush Tourney’ champion, as he won the inaugural tournament held by YA Sisterhood last summer. Because he won, Jace cannot compete this year, but there are plenty of Mortal Instruments and Infernal Devices guys whom could surely take top honors and keep it in the Team Cassie family, including Will (who competed last year), Jem, Simon, etc.
‘THE MORTAL INSTRUMENTS’ GRAPHIC NOVEL

Th3rd World, the company producing the graphic novel, have been hard at work on the Mortal Instruments graphic novel. We could see anywhere from a summer to winter 2012 release for the first volume, which covers City of Bones.

The anticipated manga adaptation, which is being produced by Yen Press, of The Infernal Devices will be released in three volumes. Each volume will cover the events of each book in the trilogy. Clockwork Angel, the first installment, will be released in December 2012.

With the release date for Clockwork Princess, the final installment of the bestselling The Infernal Devices series, still currently up-in-the-air, there is still plenty to look forward to in regards to the book. Cassandra Clare is no stranger to teasers, as she shares one every month. We are still waiting to hear the official release date of Clockwork Princess. There is also the cover reveal (with Tessa on the cover) and a summary of the book to look forward to.

Cassandra Clare revealed in December 2011 that Screen Gems is looking to adapt The Infernal Devices into films. Clare said they have nailed down a screenwriter and that the studio is considering the possibility of releasing both The Mortal Instruments and The Infernal Devices in book publication order. There are sure to be updates about the progress of The Infernal Devices movie to look forward to throughout the year.
