Marlene King on ‘Mortal Instruments’ Movie: ‘News Is So Close’
Marlene King, who penned the rewrite of the script for The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones, caused a bit of a frenzy on Twitter late Thursday night.
Earlier in the day, King posted on Twitter that she had some “exciting news” about The Mortal Instruments film adaptation.
After being M.I.A. for most of the day, King returned to Twitter late Thursday night and finally opened up about The Mortal Instruments. Well, not completely, but enough to challenge Cassandra Clare as biggest tease until finally revealing that she said all she could say at the moment.
But what King did reveal is that news is coming. And soon.

On Monday, we learned that Lily Collins (Clary) had to drop out of The Evil Dead remake due to “scheduling conflicts,” that we couldn’t help but think have something to do with Mortal Instruments filming.
The rewrite of the City of Bones script was turned in December of 2011 and were awaiting approval from Sony and Screen Gems. Could Marlene have confirmation that the script has full approval by the studio?
Could it be that production on The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones is finally making significant strides?
What do you think the news will be? And when do you think we’ll finally get it?
