Marlene King: We’re Getting “Closer” to ‘Mortal Instruments’ Movie News

Last week Marlene King, who penned the rewrite of the City of Bones script, took to Twitter to announce some “exciting” news regarding the film adaptation of The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones. King later revealed that “news is so close,” but didn’t go into specifics.

A logical guess is that it has something to do with the finished rewrite of the script. King turned in her revisions back in Nov. and was awaiting approval from multiple people at Sony.

Since then Mortal Instruments fans have been on the edge of their seats waiting for any movie news, especially after we learned that a full cast might be assembled by March.

King also addressed when filming might begin, which she noted was “rumored to be August.” That date doesn’t add up with the news surrounding Lily Collins (Clary) dropping out of The Evil Dead, which begins filming in March and wraps in May.

Cassandra Clare also revealed back in Dec. that Screen Gems was hoping to begin filming this spring.

Since then we have been closely watching King’s Twitter account in case she revealed any new news.

Her latest tweet, while not earth-shattering or new, gives fans hope.

Only two cast members are confirmed at this time: Lily Collins (Clary) and Jamie Campbell Bower (Jace).

  1. “That date doesn’t add up with the news surrounding Lily Collins (Clary) dropping out of The Evil Dead, which begins filming in March and wraps in May.”

Maybe the actors need to do some training before they begin filming. And that’s why Lily had to drop out.

  2. I hope we get the news soon. I’m tired of waiting.
