‘City of Bones’ filming begins in two months

Exactly two months from today on August 15, Lily Collins, Jamie Campbell Bower and a group of yet-to-be-named actors will head to Toronto to begin filming on the highly-anticipated adaptation of The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones.

The countdown has reached 61 days and there is still a lot of news coming before the movie starts shooting, including those yet-to-be-named actors for the remaining roles.

Two weeks ago we were told that we could get casting news around this time so news could happen at any moment.

While casting director Stephanie Corsalini and the producers have decided on a Simon–whose identity remains unknown–and figuring that they have hammered out his salary, scheduling, etc., one role that has yet to be decided on is Magnus.

When asked about an update on Magnus casting, Shannon Kook, who has been very open with his casting process with fans, replied on Twitter that “it’s not over yet.”

Another Magnus hopeful, Mike Bow, said that he auditioned earlier this week.

Just because they haven’t decided on a Magnus yet doesn’t mean that we won’t hear anything until they do. Expect casting announcements to start rolling out soon.

What are you most looking forward to as the film-making process gets underway? Sound off in the comments!

  1. i cant wait to actually see the romance between clary and jace.

  2. I can’t wait until we get some stills of the movie! I will probably start crying when I see actual parts of the movie. It took so long for us to get here, it will be a great day when we see actual bits of the movie. Plus, it will be fun trying to figure out possible scenes the pictures are from. I’m really looking forward to a trailer too!

  3. I can’t wait to see the trailer for the first time! I go to the cinema pretty much every weekend, so I’ll probably see it there first, and actually scream out loud. It’ll be a beautiful, painful-to-the-ears moment.

SO EXCITED!!! I really want to know who’s playing Luke and Valentine and Hodge!! Cannot forget Hodge!!

  6. Wish they would hurry up already!

  7. Magnus is a mystery, but we have seen some performers in the race. I am actually worried about Alec, where the hell is he?, when we gonna know his identity?, Are he going to fit with Magnus?. And Simon, and Isabelle…We almost do not know anything!

  8. I am really excited to find out more about the cast. I’m particularly excited about Luke and Simon. I can’t wait until they release the full cast list. I can’t wait until August 2013 because I really want to see the action, the chemistry between Jamie and Lily, and just the movie in general.

  9. Toronto to begin filming on the highly-anticipated adaptation of The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones

  10. What I really want to see is the actor playing Alec. I feel like he and Magnus would be the hardest to cast.

  11. i really can’t wait to SEE SIMON! and the vamp scene and the party scene. i honestly could care less about clary and jace on screen after the travesty of their relationship in the 4th and 5th book

  12. I am dying to see who is cast. Have they even finished casting? It seems that by now it would at least be up on IMDB. I picture Julianne Moore as Clary’s mom . Simon is a tough one, I always pictured the guy from the OC as him but I think he’s a tad bit too old for that now…lol. I know Victor Zinck from the wrongturn movies would be a great Sebastian/fake Jonathan. Im stoked either way.
