Casting Talk: Looks like we have a Magnus
Filming on The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones is set to begin in less than a month and there are plenty of casting announcements on the horizon.
Lily Collins (Clary), Jamie Campbell Bower (Jace), Robert Sheehan (Simon), Jemima West (Isabelle), Kevin Durand (Pangborn) and Robert Maillet (Blackwell) are the only confirmed cast members at this time.
Cassandra Clare has revealed that Alec is cast, but his identity remains a secret due to scheduling issues. Jocelyn is also cast and the studio is working out her schedule.
One role that has been interactive with fans have been some of the actors who auditioned for the role of Magnus Bane.
It’s been a role that has been documented for the past couple of months, but now it looks like we have our Magnus, and, like our Alec, his identity remains a secret.
According to a fan that attended a signing in Rhinebeck, N.Y. on July 15, author Sarah Rees Brennan, a friend of Clare, revealed to those in attendance that not only has Magnus been cast but that he is “hot.”
And she told us OVER AND OVER AND OVER how HOT the guy being cast for Magnus was. Obviously she couldn’t tell who it was!
Casting announcements should be plentiful in the coming weeks as the film shoot date fast approaches.
The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones hit theaters on August 23, 2013.

I’d rather know if the Magnus actor acts well or if he will do a good job than whether he is hot or not. This Sarah Brees Brennan sounds like a superficial teenager. ~rolling my eyes~
Why do people want this Shannon Kook person? Who is he and what’s so great him? Is a really good actor or something?
I think they might not release any casting news this week or maybe not until the end of the week at least as it will be overshadowed by all the Catching Fire rumours and news.
Yeah, I am concerned more on the acting than looks myself but the looks are a good plus =) and Shannon is a really good actor he was in Degrassi (can’t tell you what the exact season was since there were so many xD) but I fell in love with his character, Zane. He was also in a tv film called Verona which I believe is basically an all male version of Romeo and Juliet and I think he was the Romeo from the gifs that I’ve seen haha. He wasn’t always a fan favorite for Magnus but then again maybe everyone didn’t know who he was until he actually auditioned. He’s been my Magnus every since I first read the books.
Anyway if you see a picture of him I think you’d see he fits Magnus’ description quite well so that’s probably why he’s a fan favorite now.

I like Shannon, I really do, but I would like to see another actors. I have confidence the studio will choose well. On purpose, I love how “Hot” sounds : )
I think jamie will do a good job at playing jace they need some1 who can acted. magnus is very good with words so I dont care if his hot or not as long as he can acted really well

i know Austin looks a bit older but, with make up he looks really well done up and in leather 🙂
Shannon has a baby face which adds to his cuteness factor
so im fine with either, it really comes down to who the better actor is
no matter who it is they’d better do a good job at Magnus
and i also have high hopes for Jamie in his role as Jace in this film
