KEVIN ZEGERS CAST AS ALEC
After months of speculation and rumors, we finally have our Alec Lightwood.
Cassandra Clare confirmed a previous report by Just Jared that Kevin Zegers has been cast as Alec in The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones.
Clare revealed that Zegers was one of the first actors the studio wanted as Alec and that Ed Westwick was up for the role, but couldn’t do it due to scheduling conflicts.
AIDAN TURNER CAST AS LUKE
Aidan Turner, of Being Human, has landed the role of Luke Garroway.
Here’s what Cassandra Clare had to say: “He was terrific in Being Human and there’s massive buzz about his upcoming role in the Hobbit. He’s Irish so perhaps he and Robert Sheehan can sit around and talk about Irish things.”
CCH POUNDER CAST AS MADAME DOROTHEA
The role of Madame Dorothea has been filled by CCH Pounder.
Here’s what Cassandra Clare had to say: “You may know her from The Shield. Or The X-Files. Or Warehouse 13. Or ER. Or The West Wing. Or pretty much every cool show in the known universe. Our director’s wanted to work with her for ages and I think she will be amazing. Welcome, CCH!”
STEPHEN R. HART CAST AS BROTHER JEREMIAH
The final casting announcement of the week was Stephen R. Hart’s casting as Brother Jeremiah, a Silent Brother.
Here’s what Cassandra Clare had to say: “Dude seems appropriately creepy to me. Also he will be buried under pounds of makeup and robes. Interested to see how the Silent Brothers turn out visually.”
OFFICIAL MOVIE WEBSITE LAUNCHES
IMDB has been the cause of casting uncertainty and rumors for months.
That won’t be a problem now with the official launch of TheMortalInstrumentsMovie.com, the official website for the film The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones.
Cassandra Clare announced the launch of the site where you can find up-to-date casting, information on the characters and more.
STUDIO CONSIDERING FILMING FUTURE ‘MORTAL INSTRUMENTS’ MOVIES BACK-TO-BACK
With six books in the series, The Mortal Instruments franchise could no doubt take Hollywood by storm.
But something that has fans worried are some of the actor’s ages in regards to their roles, like Kevin Zegers (Alec) and Godfrey Gao (Magnus).
But it looks like Constantin Film has already thought ahead.
Cassandra Clare revealed that the studio has discussed filming future movies back-to-back.
WILL VS. JEM IN THE YA CRUSH TOURNEY FINAL FOUR
For the second week in a row, it will be a Team Cassie Showdown in the YA Crush Tourney.
Will routed Adam (of Shatter Me) to advance to the Final Four, where he will battle his parabatai Jem , who slipped past Magnus to advance to the next round.
Guess fans will get a taste of what Tessa will be going through in Clockwork Princess.
‘CITY OF BONES’ BEGINS FILMING THIS MONTH
Filming on the highly-anticipated film adaptation of The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones begins filming this month.
Lily Collins, Jamie Campbell Bower, Robert Sheehan, Jemima West and the rest of the cast–and a few actors that haven’t been cast yet–will head to Toronto on August 20 to begin shooting.
MOVIE MONDAY #11: JAVA JONES
This week’s Movie Monday focused on Java Jones, the place that serves as a transition for Clary into the Shadow World. It’s also where Simon’s true feelings for Clary begin to show, where Jace follows Clary and Eric’s poetry.
Several popular fan sites, including TMI Source, sounded off with their expectations.
Stay tuned for another episode of SHADOWHUNTER TALK and weekly recap next Sunday.
Valentine’s been casted XD
Being a fan of being Human, I was very upset when Aidan Turner left the cast. I’m very excited, that he will be a part of The Mortal Instruments cast. Aidan was a scary and sexy Vampire in being Human, I loved his character. I can’t wait to see him as Luke and a Werewolf. I love the character Luke, and I’m sure that Aidan will bring him to life.
