Gabriel Yared to compose THE MORTAL INSTRUMENTS: CITY OF BONES score

Oscar-winner Gabriel Yared will compose the score for THE MORTAL INSTRUMENTS: CITY OF BONES.

Cassandra Clare revealed the news when answering a fan’s question about the movie soundtrack, which is something entirely different:

I’m guessing you’re not talking about the score — the score is the instrumental music composed for a film. In this case the composer is Gabriel Yared who won an Oscar forThe English Patient. I’m guessing you mean the pop songs that often show up on the soundtrack to a film — as for that I don’t really know, but it’s early in the process to have begun selecting songs. Usually the director would want to be able to watch at least a rough cut of the movie and get a sense what songs would fit and where.

Some other scores he has worked on include COLD MOUNTAIN, THE TALENTED MR. RIPLEY and CITY OF ANGELS (how about that?)
