In honor of the impending New Year, Cassandra Clare shared the first snippet from one of the short stories in THE BANE CHRONICLES titled “What Really Happened in Peru,” which was co-written by Sarah Rees Brennan.

“Just don’t leave me here,” said Ragnor. “You have to swear, Bane.”

Magnus raised his eyebrows. “I give you my word of honor!”

“I mean it,” Ragnor told him. “I will find you. I will find whatever chest of absurd clothes you have brought with you. And I will bring a llama into the place where you sleep and make sure that it urinates on everything in the chest.”

“There is no need to get nasty about this,” Magnus said. “Don’t worry. I can teach you every word that you need to know right now. One of them is ‘fiesta.’”

Ragnor scowled. “What does that mean?”

“It means ‘party.’ Another important word is ‘juerga.’”

“What does that word mean?”

Magnus was silent.

“Magnus,” said Ragnor, his voice stern. “Does that word also mean ‘party’?”

Magnus could not help the sly grin that spread across his face. “I would apologize,” he said. “But I have no regrets.”

The first story in the 10-story cycle will be released in eBook format in February. Every month a new story will be released before its published in its full print form in 2014.

  1. i want to read it so badly!!!!!

  2. The last bit were Magnus says, “I would apologise but I have not regrets” doesn’t make any sense … I could any where in that conversation where he would need to apologise.

    … Maybe that’s just me.

I looked Juerga up on google and it just means party, good time; Unless the place they are at has really dirty parties Magnus wouldn’t need to apologize. Ragnors threat about having a liama pee on Magnus’s cloths if he ditches him has me rolling around my bedroom floor with laughter though. Cassandra Clare invintes the funniest charecters.

Oh, so that’s what happened in Puru. A party that went too wild.

  12. When you put the words together and with context it’s probably meant in, it translates as “party spree”…. I font think Magnus was speaking of one party….
