‘CITY OF ASHES’ to be offered to buyers at Cannes next week
Just a few hours ago, executive producer Martin Moszkowicz announced that The Mortal Instruments: City of Ashes, the sequel to the upcoming The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones (Aug. 23), would go into production this Fall with director Harald Zwart returning.
According to Variety, The Mortal Instruments: City of Ashes will be offered to international buyers at the Cannes Film Festival next week.
Mister Smith Entertainment is to introduce “The Mortal Instruments: City of Ashes,” the sequel to the upcoming “The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones,” to international buyers at Cannes next week.
“City of Bones,” which is the first pic in the fantasy franchise, is due for release worldwide this summer. Screen Gems will release it in the U.S. on Aug. 23.
Harald Zwart (“The Karate Kid”) returns to helm the sequel. Returning thesps are Lily Collins (“Mirror Mirror,” “The Blind Side”) and Jamie Campbell Bower (“Anonymous,” “Camelot”).
Lensing on the sequel, penned by Jessica Postigo Paquette, who also wrote the screenplay for “City of Bones,” begins in the fall.
Robert Kulzer is producing for Constantin Film, alongside Don Carmody. Their credits include the “Resident Evil” franchise. Exec producers are Bob Shaye and Michael Lynne, who teamed on “The Lord of the Rings,” for Unique Features, and Martin Moszkowicz for Constantin.
Moszkowicz told The Hollywood Reporter:
“We are outstandingly proud of what has been achieved on The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones – and what better proof would there be than putting the next installment of Cassandra Clare’s phenomenal vision – City of Ashes – into production now.”

OMG! I totally saw Eva Green as Lilith ever since the first time she was mentioned and I can’t think of any better choice than her, though she comes along later. (in CoFA if I’m not mistaken)
Okay, obviously the scene with the faeries! THAT, my friends, is one of the best scenes in the whole series. Ugh…the passionate kiss! Oh, I can’t wait. Plus, hello, faeries!!! 😀

I cannot wait for this movie! I’m really excited for the fight scene between the demons and the Shadowhunters on the boat! I’m very excited to see who will play little Max Lightwood, I want to see someone new play him that not many people have seen. I also want a kid that can make me cry in City of Glass.
loved the book! I hope they stick to the story more than they did in the first movie, though. Can’t wait
