‘Shadowhunters’: Nicola Correia Damude Cast as Maryse Lightwood

Shadowhunters, we have our Maryse Lightwood.

Cassandra Clare announced that Nicola Correia Damude will play Alec and Isabelle’s mother in Shadowhunters.

As for why Maryse’s casting wasn’t announced, Clare had this to say:

They didn’t make an announcement about Maryse because they only “announce” what they call “recurring cast members.” I don’t know what makes someone specifically a recurring cast member, but it may have to do with number of episodes they’re in. More characters you know from the books will be getting cast in weeks to come, including more of the Lightwood family.

Shadowhunters premieres in early 2016 on ABC Family.

She seems perfect, exactly like the Maryse I imagined in the books. I can’t wait to see who they cast for Robert Lightwood, idk why but I’m more excited for him than Maryse 🙂

Yay, she looks great as Isabelle and Alec’s mom! I get why she’s probably not recurring, since book one she’s not actually in the Institute but on ‘business’ with Robert and Max or something along those lines. PS, does anyone remember the correct pronunciation of Maryse? I know it’s not how its written but I’ve forgotten.

  Opps … lol … apologies – early morning – no coffee! … I was supposed to type Mah-Reese – phonetic spelling! (although there’s probably the Australian accent coming out in inflection there – with my representation!!) … Clary refers to it as May-Ris (though, when I’ve heard people with an American accent say that – not sure on locality – it comes across as the way I’ve visualised it Phonetically … if that makes sense?!?! … Anyhoo, moving along … 😉

LOL … she can totally pass off as Emeraude’s mother – they look so alike!! … important because of the conversation between Jocelyn and Isabelle at the Citadel.
