Cover Reveal: ‘Lady Midnight’ coming March 8, 2016
Cassandra Clare first told fans about The Dark Artifices way back in 2011 – read our first article about it here – and she has always been very forthcoming with information regarding the Blackthorn family and Emma Carstairs. Fans finally met some of the characters in City of Heavenly Fire and we learned more about them in some installments of Tales from the Shadowhunter Academy.
After what felt like years of waiting (at least for some of us), we are now one step closer to the release of Lady Midnight! Today Cassie and special guest Harry Shum Jr. (Magnus Bane in Shadowhunters) revealed the cover for Lady Midnight at New York Comic Con!
Have a look at the stunning cover:
The cover shows Emma Carstairs with her famous sword Cortana. It was done by Cliff Nielsen who also designed the covers for The Mortal Instruments and The Infernal Devices. Cassie already said that she loved the cover and so do we! The colours are gorgeous and the water theme is great since Emma is known to be afraid of the ocean.

Here is a new synopsis from Cassie’s website:
In a secret world where half-angel warriors are sworn to fight demons, parabatai is a sacred word.
A parabatai is your partner in battle. A parabatai is your best friend. Parabatai can be everything to each other — but they can never fall in love.
Emma Carstairs is a Shadowhunter, one in a long line of Shadowhunters tasked with protecting the world from demons. With her parabatai Julian Blackthorn, she patrols the streets of an secret Los Angeles where vampires party on the Sunset Strip, and faeries teeter on the edge of open war with Shadowhunters. When the bodies of humans and faeries start turning up murdered in the same way Emma’s parents were murdered years ago, an uneasy alliance is formed. This is Emma’s chance for revenge — and Julian’s chance to get back his half-faerie brother, Mark, who was kidnapped five years ago. All Emma, Mark and Julian have to do is solve the murders within two weeks . . . before the murderer targets them.
Their search takes Emma from sea caves full of sorcery to a dark lottery where death is dispensed. As she uncovers the past, she begins to peel away the secrets of the present: What has Julian been hiding from her all these years? Why does Shadowhunter law forbid parabatai to fall in love? Who really killed her parents — and can she bear to know the truth?
The magic and adventure of the Shadowhunter Chronicles have captured the imaginations of millions of readers across the globe. Fall in love with Emma and her friends in this pulse-pounding, heart-rending new volume sure to delight new readers and longtime fans.
Lady Midnight will be published on March 8, 2016 – that’s in 151 days!

I love it. Pretty colors. I’m gonna pre-order it right away.
I love the fact that it’s in the ocean, and I love the darker colors, and THE TENTACLES AT THE BOTTOM OH MY GOSH!!!! The model is really beautiful and I’m kinda worried now though because it looks (though it may just be the light, or a fold in her dress) that Emma has like a slit in her stomach, and the way she is sinking and Cortana falling out of her hand scares me a bit. But, anyway, the cover is astonishing. My favorite cover of all the novels! 😃 Absolutely in love
OH MY GOSH THE PARABATAI RUNE IS ON THE SIDE I CAN’T IT’S TOO BEAUTIFUL
I know! I saw it too. At least it’s done in the same style as the new Mortal Instruments and Infernal Devices covers.
This cover looks beautiful. I can’t wait to read the book, the synopsis alone is very well done and gets the anticipation to really kick in.
I love that the ocean is going to be such a big theme in the new series, and that the faeries are going to play a major role. I’m also looking forward to the mystery: who is the murderer? What is their objective (sinister, no doubt!)? Maybe we’ll get to see the Blackthorns weave themselves back together again and the political situation stabilize.
Can’t wait!
beautiful cover…I LOVE IT
This would have to be my favourite shadowhunter cover yet 😀
