‘Chain of Iron’ news: Special Collector’s Edition, JitJoy edition, and a special calendar

Cassandra Clare’s Chain of Iron is published next March and we just found out what readers can expect from the first edition of this book (also referred to as special collector’s edition). That’s not all though, there is more news, but let’s start at the beginning.
Cassie sent out a short newsletter to share the following:

“Chain of Iron will be here just five short months from now! As in the past, the first printing in North America will be a special collector’s edition. I wanted to take a moment in this exclusive newsletter to let you know what it will contain. (There will also be special editions in the UK, as well as book boxes; I’ll let you know more about those as soon as I can!)

This collector’s edition of Chain of Iron includes ten black and white character silhouettes by celebrated cut-paper artist Kathleen Jennings and a new short story featuring Magnus Bane and Brother Zachariah!

The character silhouettes are perfect for a novel set in Edwardian England! Paper-cut silhouettes were a popular art form. Kathleen cut these out herself by hand. Here’s a silhouette of our favorite inventor, Christopher Lightwood! I love the little clockworks, stele and beaker among the flowers. Each illustration/silhouette will feature a Last Hours character! They look beautiful inside the book.

Then of course, there’s the special short story at the end of the collector’s edition. Featuring Jem and Magnus and our first glimpse at the Spiral Labyrinth, you won’t find it anywhere else!”

Cassie revealed that the short story’s title is “One Must Always Be Careful of Books” and I have to say I love the nod to The Infernal Devices while also being curious about this particular title.

For all of you who’ve been loving Charlie Bowater’s gorgeous Last Hours characters art, we’ve put together a calendar!

It will feature a character every month (and a special previously-unseen piece of character art for December) and include that character’s schedule of activities for that month. Check out November: Alastair Carstairs below! (“November 8, shop for daggers with Cordelia. November 14, Thomas has patrol.”)

We will be doing our best to ship in time for Christmas and the New Year, and we will be shipping internationally. You can find information regarding shipping costs and times at Hebel Design; you can also contact them with questions about shipping times, costs, and calendar details, at sales@hebeldesign.com

There are a very limited number of calendars, so pre-order if you want to be sure to get one! A portion of the proceeds of calendar sales will go to the Center for Black Equity.
