I hope everyone has had some time to process the news that Cassandra Clare’s final The Last Hours novel Chain of Thorns has sadly been pushed back to January 31, 2023. Cassie has been online these past two days to answer some questions and she’s also shared a couple of snippets.
Let’s have a look at the snippets first:

*dreamy sigh* ❤

This has to be Thomas, right?!

Probably Matthew to Cordelia?

Matthew and Cordelia again.

Aw, I hope Ariadne is talking to Anna!

What else can we expect from the next months until Chain of Thorns is published?

  • We will do a bunch of fun things online for the cover reveal – interviews and Instalives and influencers, oh my! We will have exclusive character artwork by Nicole Deal throughout the year, and more to come. SOBH will go on through September at the least, maybe longer” (x)
  • The cover reveal will be soon: mid-May with a BONUS cover reveal of the reverse cover done by Charlie Bowater!” (x)
  • The reverse cover: “the Chain of Thorns first editions will come with a special reverse cover by the amazing @charliebowater! I can’t wait to show you – you aren’t ready. I wasn’t ready. It’s incredible. More soon!
  • Pre-orders will be up mid-May” (x)

Cassie also addressed whether the new release date would affect The Wicked Powers, the final series in The Shadowhunter Chronicles, and Sword Catcher.

The Wicked Powers won’t be affected by any delays as it has not been written or contracted or anything official like that. (x)

Sword Catcher is still on schedule. Nothing else will be delayed (barring some world event I cannot predict 🙂 (x)

Chain of Thorns is published on January 31, 2023.
