Wall Street Journal dubs Cassandra Clare the ‘New Queen of Fantasy’

There’s no doubt why the Wall Street Journal has dubbed Cassandra Clare the ‘New Queen of Fantasy.’ Clare’s Shadowhunter Chronicles have sold more than 12 million copies worldwide and been translated into more than 30 languages.

Both The Mortal Instruments and The Infernal Devices have topped the best seller lists–with The Mortal Instruments still riding high on the New York Times best seller list for more than a year.

Clare’s Shadowhunter Chronicles will continue with The Dark Artifices, for which she signed a multimillion dollar contract for the trilogy, with the first book Lady Midnight to be released in 2015.

Fans also know very well that a film adaptation for City of Bones is underway with a theatrical release slated for August 23, 2013.

Here’s an excerpt from the article:

Lately, she has been landing deals that rival the contracts of blockbuster authors. Margaret K. McElderry Books paid a high-seven-figure advance for “The Dark Artifices,” the next three books in her fantasy series about demon hunters. Simon & Schuster UK Children’s paid a low-seven-figure sum for U.K. rights to “The Dark Artifices.” She signed a separate deal with Scholastic for a middle-grades fantasy series about magicians, which she is co-writing with young-adult author Holly Black.

A film adaptation of “Mortal Instruments” is now in the works. Her fans jumped on the news. Some responded with fan-fiction stories referencing the actors who have been cast in the movies.
