Shadowhunter Talk Episode 1: Simon casting, ‘City of Bones’ title treatment & Clockwork Princess cover reveal

This past week has no doubt been the biggest and busiest week for the Shadowhunter Chronicles fandom in recent history.

ROBERT SHEEHAN CAST AS SIMON LEWIS

The long and arduous process of casting Simon Lewis came to an end on Wednesday when Cassandra Clare announced that Robert Sheehan (Misits) will play the role of Clary (Lily Collins)’s best friend in The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones.

Said Cassandra Clare: “He’s totally cute and adorable and HILARIOUS, and his chemistry with Lily and Jamie is off the charts. I’ve wanted him for Simon for ages so I am pretty much totally and entirely happy.”

‘CLOCKWORK PRINCESS’ COVER REVEALED

The cover of the final installment of The Infernal Devices was revealed with the help of fans. Fans tweeted #ClockworkPrincess to help unveil pieces of the cover.

Over 30,000 tweets, two worldwide trending topics and less than two hours later, the full cover was revealed in its entirety.

Clockwork Princess will be released on March 19, 2013.

OFFICIAL MOVIE TITLE TREATMENT REVEALED

The week kicked off with a bang when Cassandra Clare debuted the official teaser poster, featuring the official title treatment, for The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones.

The official title treatment inspired tons of fan graphics in a matter of hours.

LILY COLLINS & JAMIE CAMPBELL BOWER SPOTTED IN TORONTO

Lily Collins and Jamie Campbell Bower were spotted in Toronto on Monday to begin pre-production on The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones, which begins filming on August 15.

The pair sparked romance rumors when they were photographed holding hands as they took a stroll around Toronto on Monday and Tuesday.

The two leads were spotted grocery shopping and signing autographs and taking pictures with fans around town.

CASTING UPDATES

Cassandra Clare revealed some casting details earlier in the week.

Jocelyn has been cast–the studio is just “working her schedule out.” There are also actors in line for the role of Magnus.

Clare revealed a couple of weeks ago that Alec had been cast, but she’s sworn to secrecy due to the actor’s schedule. But she did say that she “really really” likes the actor cast Alec. No news on when he could be announced.

SHADOWHUNTERS AT COMIC-CON

Cassandra Clare’s Shadowhunter Chronicles have a small presence at Comic-Con International this year. Smart Pop Books was out promoting Shadowhunters and Downworlders, a Mortal Instruments anthology, coming out in January 2013. Simon & Schuster was out promoting

Yen Press, the company behind the Infernal Devices manga, and Sony Pictures, the distributor for The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones, were also in attendance.

WILL, MAGNUS & JEM ADVANCE IN YA CRUSH TOURNEY

The first round of YA Sisterhood’s YA Crush Tourney kicked off on July 6 and three of Cassandra Clare’s Shadowhunter Chronicles guys have advanced to the Superior Sixteen: Will, Magnus and Jem.

Next week it’s Alec and Simon’s turn in the first round of the YA Crush Tourney.

‘CITY OF BONES’ GRAPHIC NOVEL GETS A RELEASE DATE

The City of Bones graphic novel finally has a release date.

The first issue in an eight-issue series by Th3rd World is slated for a May 7, 2013 release.

‘CITY OF BONES’ FILMING STARTS IN EXACTLY ONE MONTH

As of today (July 15) there is exactly ONE MONTH until Lily Collins, Jamie Campbell Bower, Robert Sheehan, Jemima West and company begin filming on The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones in Toronto.
