Godfrey Gao cast as Magnus Bane in ‘City of Bones’
We finally have a Magnus Bane.
Cassandra Clare announced that Godfrey Gao has been cast as Magnus in the upcoming film adaptation of The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones.
So after an exhaustive search during which many, many hot Asian men were considered by the casting director (her job, so painful), the director, and the seventy-odd other dudes who have to sign off on this kind of thing, I can confidently tell you that our Magnus may be …

You cannot take a bad picture of this guy. It is impossible. That is probably why he is a supermodel as well as being an actor.

Godfrey is, in addition to being all gorgeous and stuff, super-talented (his audition was awesome), loves the books, and is, like Magnus, ridiculously tall.
He is also super-nice — we emailed briefly and he said “I’m half Indonesian, because my mom is Peranakan Malaysian And my dad is Shanghainese – Soo hopefully the fans will like me playing Magnus!”

Godfrey joins the cast of Lily Collins (Clary), Jamie Campbell Bower (Jace), Robert Sheehan (Simon), Jemima West (Isabelle), Kevin Durand (Pangborn) and Robert Maillet (Blackwell).
Filming on The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones begins filming on August 15 in Toronto and the film is slated for an August 23, 2013 theatrical release.

Love Love Love him. He IS pretty hot! Also. He might have his hair longer than it is here. B/c I can’t imagine these are very recent pictures of him. But who knows. Im not worried about how long is hair is as long as it is glittery and such.
He MUST grow his hair out, it has been said that without the gel and glitter his hair goes to his shoulders (I think it was COA when Magnus comes out of Luke’s shower smelling like Clary’s grapefruit bodywash :D)

As far as looks were concerned, Magnus was the one character I worried about casting the most. I’m shocked how perfect this guy is! Now we just have to see him act.

I actually liked the surprise too, and the Adan Lambert idea was simply pathetic but, I still think Godfrey is a little too old, and that is worrying me…in the case we get the entire sequel.

I just can’t see him as Alec. His face is just…not right. I also get a kind of jerky arrogant vibe from him. I’m not saying that’s how he is, that’s just the vibe I get. And I have seen him in gossip girl, and the whole show left much to be desired, but I admit I have not seen any of the other things he’s been in.
