Shadowhunter Talk Episode 5: Movie prep and Valentine cast
It was another busy week for the Shadowhunter Chronicles fandom!

JONATHAN RHYS MEYERS CAST AS VALENTINE
After The Hollywood Reporter exclusively reported that Jonathan Rhys Meyers was in negotiations for the role of evil Shadowhunter Valentine Morgenstern, Cassandra Clare confirmed the news the following day.
Said Clare: “So yes I should probably also mention that JRM plays Henry the 8th on The Tudors, and does a very good job of being charismatic, power-hungry, and cold. Also a man who appreciates his weaponry.”
‘MORTAL INSTRUMENTS’ CAST HEADING TO TORONTO
We are just one week away from the start of filming on The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones and it looks like the cast is now on its way to Toronto for prep on the film.
Kevin Zegers (Alec Lightwood) tweeted that he was headed to Toronto for prep on The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones on Thursday, with an accompanying photo.
Zegers is quite active on Twitter and it looks like he’ll be our behind-the-scenes guy for the film.
LILY COLLINS, JAMIE CAMPBELL BOWER WORKING WITH STUNT CREW
Lily Collins and Jamie Campbell Bower are already in Toronto working on stunt training for The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones.
Alain Moussi, who is working with On Set Stunts on the film, tweeted updates about our Shadowhunters-in-training.
Lily “packs quite a punch” and he can’t wait to see Jamie as “Jace in full action.”
FIRST PHOTO FROM ‘CITY OF BONES’ SET
Executive producer Martin Moszkowicz (Constantin Film) shared the first set photo from The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones.
The photo is of the set under construction and looks to be of the interior of some building, be it Clary and Jocelyn’s, Luke’s or the Institute.

-Cassandra Clare said that casting is complete and minor roles will be announced soon.
-She teased when might we see photos of the actors in character: “*smiles evilly* soon.”
-She will be flying out to Toronto to visit the set.
-She says she has emailed with Godfrey and Kevin and teased fans: “Kevin and Godfrey are both really nice. We’ve emailed. I’ll just spend time with them. “Imma hang out w/ Magnus and Alec.” Let the jealousy begin!
WILL FALLS SHORT IN YA CRUSH TOURNEY FINAL
Will Herondale fell short of the YA Crush Tourney title in a last-minute comeback by Adrian, of Vampire Academy and Bloodlines, and must settle for the runner-up honor.
Over 11,000 votes were cast for Will and over 23,00 votes were cast in the YA Crush Tourney Final.
Will (No. 1 seed) led most of the day, but not by more than 4%, but Team Adrian (No. 2 seed) rallied with 500 votes in the final hour to steal the title. Adrian won by about 30 votes, according to YA Sisterhood.
TMI & TID RANK IN TOP 30 OF NPR’S BEST-EVER TEEN BOOKS
NPR’s Best-Ever YA Novels list has been revealed and both of Cassandra Clare’s bestselling series, The Mortal Instruments and The Infernal Devices, have cracked not only the Top 100 but the Top 30.
The Mortal Instruments ranked No. 21 and The Infernal Devices ranked No. 29.
The list was created by fans, who submitted 10 of their favorite Young Adult novels or series and the results were tallied to create NPR’s list.
‘CLOCKWORK ANGEL’ MANGA COVER REVEALED
Cassandra Clare shared the final cover of the Clockwork Angel manga by Yen Press.
Clockwork Angel manga will be released on October 30, 2012. Chapters have appeared in Yen Press magazine over the past few months, but it will soon be made available in full this fall.
‘CLOCKWORK PRINCESS’ SNIPPET ABOUT WILL & UNREQUITED LOVE
Cassandra Clare shared a new snippet from Clockwork Princess in honor of Will’s quarterfinals victory in the YA Crush Tourney.
“By the Angel, Bridget’s depressing,” said Henry, setting down his newspaper directly on his plate and causing the edge to soak through with egg yolk. Charlotte opened her mouth as if to object, and closed it again. “It’s all heartbreak, death and unrequited love.”
“Well, that is what most songs are about,” said Will. “Requited love is nice, but it doesn’t make much of a ballad.”
MOVIE MONDAY #12: MADAME DOROTHEA
This week’s Movie Monday focused on Madame Dorothea and CCH Pounder’s casting as the pivotal character.
Several popular fan sites, including TMI Source, sounded off with their expectations.
